A 16 year old teenager in the United States who suffered a concussion while playing football, woke up from coma to suddenly find himself speaking fluent Spanish.

Nsemoh, a high school student ended up in coma after he was kicked in the head by another player during a game.

When he woke up from coma, Nsemoh did something he hasn't previously done: speak fluent Spanish like a native.

His parents said before the concussion, he could speak some Spanish but was never fluent in it.

Slowly, he is starting to lose his fluency in Spanish, and his English is coming back.

Nsemoh's condition is known as foreign accent syndrome.

Foreign accent syndrome is an extremely rare condition in which brain injuries change a person's speech patterns, giving them a different accent. The first known case was reported in 1941, when a Norwegian woman suffered shrapnel injuries to the brain during a German bombing run -- and started speaking with a German accent.
Since then there have been a few dozen reported cases.
